Default Fax on ADSL

I have an ADSL line connection with 2 numbers of telephone on my line, I
had ever used only the first number but now I need to install a FAX on
the second number, but the exit of ADSL line have only 2 jacks 1 for the
Router and the other for the telephone.
Where is the line for the 2° telephone?,
on the Router?
and how may I configure this telephone line.
Many thanks
Antonio

Talk to whoever installed your telephone lines. It all depends on how
the wiring was installed.

If there are but two jacks, one for the ADSL connection and the other for
the telephone, it is possible that you only have one physical line. The
second number might be be provided by a feature called "distinctive ring".
That is, call one number and you get one ring pattern when an incoming call
is being connected, and call another to get a different pattern. However,
there is just one physical line.

If this is the case, you need extra equipment to recognize the ring pattern
and route the call to the fax appropriately.

Alternately, possible one line has ADSL set up on it and is connected to one
of the jacks and the other line, without ADSL, is connected to the other.

Consult your phone carrier as to how it is all set up and what extra
equipment you might need and how to connect it.
