Default Compression may have killed my USB drivers

Okay, here's the problem.

My Lexmark x1270 all-in-one stopped copying and scanning. It still printed,
but wouldn't do the other things, and the software to do those things seemed
to have vanished from my desktop. So, I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the
Lexmark software. No go. Check the device manager; it's not recognizing the
USB port. So, I go to uninstall the USB ports and have Windows reinstall
them--it's worked before for me. But even after multiple reboots, the USB
ports aren't being reinstalled, and the device manager tells me the drivers
don't exist.

Problem is, between the last time I did this and now, I made what I'm
finding out was a bad mistake: I compressed my files. I think that's why the
driver files aren't available--compressing them changed the .dll to .dl_ and
Windows can't read them.

So, what do I do? Where do I get the drivers? I have SP3, and I've
downloaded all the latest updates, both required and optional. I'm at a loss
where to find the drivers I need so this thrice-cursed printer/scanner thing
will work.

Just to make it clear, I do have the most recent Lexmark drivers--those had
also been compressed so I got the latest from Lexmark support.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You uncompress the drivers at the command prompt. Start Run cmd and in
the box: expand (file name).dl_ (filename).dll for all of those items you
deem as needing it.
