Default Is it safe to delete the SID with .bak in the Profilelist?

Due to an incompleted system restore, the account I log in does not open the
right account. I fixed it by changing the username path in ProfileImagePath
value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows NT \CurrentVersion
\ ProfileList. The correct account is restored. I have renamed the
username.bak to username.new during the fix. Can I delete this SID? It
looks like it is taking up significant memory of my hard drive.
