Default Folders Disappeared XP Pro SP3

I thought I sent this reply already . . . well I followed your
suggestions with no results - malware check, virus check, etc.

Any other ideas that might work?

Goodwill,
Luke

....and what program or programs did you use to check for malware, and
what diagnostic did you use on the drive?

As Char said, use chkdsk to see if there are any problems with the file
system.

Do you have backups of your data?
Did you perhaps copy these folders to another drive, but mistakenly move
instead of copy?

Who else has access to the computer?

I asked about a roommate, but I think I should have also asked about a
cat! They've been known to walk on keyboards and even sleep there at
times.

Are you saying the missing folders could be in a .cat file?

Remember that door we talked about the other day? Just how hard did
that thing hit you, anyway? ;-)
