Compare Two Netgear Nighthawk 1750 Routers
-------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Compare Two Netgear Nighthawk 1750 Routers Date: Tue, 18 Aug 2020 00:38:33 -0000 (UTC) From: Boris Organization: This space for rent Newsgroups: alt.comp.networking.routers Hi, I've got this on my home network, and it connects (depending on time of day) about 11 devices which include cell phones, laptops and desktops, android and iphones, tablets, and printers. Both bands are active. It works fine, and I https://www.bestbuy.com/site/netgear...i-fi-5-router- black/9054017.p?skuId=9054017 I need to replace an old Motorola Surfboard b/g/n router at another location. I was going to get the same Netgear AC 1750, above but then saw this: https://tinyurl.com/yxrfdmhz For either router, especially at the 'new' location, I really don't care about QoS or parental controls. All I really care about is providing the highest possible for the user's network card. Is there a significant difference I should care about with the second listed router, above? It's half the price. I don't much care for Amazon, but that's where I found it. TIA |

I don't have any particular advice, but I also avoid Amazon. I recently got a router at Microcenter. Before that I got a network switch and some other things at provantage.com. Why? Because they were the people selling through Amazon. Amazon typically forces them to charge the same or more if they sell direct, but I'd still rather give them the business and cut out Amazon. I've never bought anything from Amazon and probably never will. But I sometimes find sources through them. |

I don't much care for Amazon, but that's where I found it. One is the BestBuy e-store. The other is Netgear's storefront at Amazon to give you direct-to-customer prices. Unless on sale or by a vendor arranged special sales promo, BestBuy won't have the best price. If you prefer to get the product at a physical Best Buy store building, or have it delivered to one, so you can return to Best Buy instead of shipping back and waiting for a return, click on the "Price Match Guarantee" link in the Best Buy ad. Call the number to see if they'll match Amazon's price. Then you get Amazon's price but delivered to an Best Buy store where you could, if needed, return it there. From Best Buy ad: $130 From Amazon ad: $90 Well, not exactly half price from Best Buy's price. More like 70%, or 30% off. Amazon does not always identify a product is currently available under promotional pricing, or how long the promotion lasts. Since the Amazon ad is for a storefront there by Netgear, could be it's a Netgear limited-time promo. When I go to the Netgear storefont, the AC1750 is not listed. Could be a pre-discontinued product promo. When I went to Netgears web site, I got a popup about a 20% sale, but I cleared it before reading it more. https://www.netgear.com/home/product...ers/R6700.aspx So, Netgear has their own promo on the AC1750: $90 instead of $130. Looks like Best Buy is not offering the promo pricing. Don't expect it to be permanent pricing. |
