Built in mouse wouldn't drag.
If you have the driver installation file you could uninstall the device in
Device Manager and reinstall it. If you do not have the driver installation file you can get it at: http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers However, since your notebook manufacturer doesn't provide a driver, be advised that Synaptics site mentions many times over that the driver should be obtained from the PCs manufacturer and only from Synaptics as a last resort. Another thought if the touchpad still doesn't bring joy after uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers is to clean the touchpad to see if it helps. -- Brian A. Built in mouse wouldn't drag.
It certainly won't hurt to ask if any others ahve successfully
downloaded/installed the drivers from the Synaptics site. However a quick search for touchpad in the MSI Global Forums returns 5 pages and many posters were directed to the Synaptics site for the drivers. The only caveat I've seen is that some options/functions "May" not be available depending on if the PC manufacturer included them or not in their setup for the PC. Download the driver package from Synaptics. Create a new restore point. Uninstall the devices listed in Device Manager Mice and Other Pointing Devices. Install the driver(s) downloaded from Synaptics. If the driver(s) cause any issues you can restore the PC to the restore point before you installed the driver(s). -- Brian A. The word "touchpad" doesn't appear anywhere there. [] On this Samsung NC-20 notebook, the six tabs are Buttons, Pointers, Pointer Options, Wheel, Hardware, and Device Settings; Device Settings has a logo next to it on the tab itself (white drawing on red - is either a heart or an arse, I'm not sure!). On the Device Settings tab, the top line is Synaptics Pointing Device - v11.1.3.2 28Aug08. There's a table headed Devices, which just lists one item, Synaptics TouchPad V7.2, which it says is on the PS/2 port (the computer doesn't have one of those externally). Below the table are three buttons, Enable (greyed out), Disable, and Settings; the last leads to lots more settings. In the lower part of the tab six main window, there are three options to do with the tray icon (do you have a tray icon, either a red thing with white lines on it or a grey box with two tiny grey boxes underneath it?). At the bottom right it links to the website. Sounds as if you don't have the touchpad driver, if your sixth tab doesn't mention the touchpad. (I think in the absence of it, it just works as if it was a mouse.) Certainly sounds like a reload is worth trying - from MSI first if possible. -- J. P. Gilliver. [] - the drivers listed are Synaptics 10.2.3.0 and microsoft 5.1.2600.0. It [] I checked under the 6 tabs at Mouse Properties and saw no suspicious settings there. -- J. P. Gilliver.
