I don't think many devices use that. I own about one.

That's ridiculous. All but one of my devices take as much power as they want, presumably limited by the power supply by the voltage falling a bit when they try to take too much. One of my devices only takes 500mA from a 1A supply, but 2A from a 2A supply. So either it's being OCD and wants some handshaking first, or it doesn't have a 1A mode. Pretty annoying as it consumes 500mA when running, and you can't charge it without it turning on the display to tell you it's charging, so on a 1A supply, the battery doesn't charge, it uses all the power it takes to tell me it's charging.

This all seems overly complicated. Why can't devices just take what they want, and USB ports could just be current limited? Try to take 1A from a 500mA port and the voltage falls.

I think they were trying to make people use a proprietary charger with
preattached cable. I forgot what brand this was. The phone I have now
doesn't have that problem.

you'd be wrong. apple is fully usb compliant, and *any* usb compliant
charger will work.

I ate an apple yesterday, it wasn't a Macintosh, it was a red delicious.

Try VKWorld. A quarter of the price of Samsung with the same specs. Samsung is now overpriced like Apple.

Nope. It's about adding an external LED light to a smart phone using
the USB
port for power.

Dunno what you were watching.

That’s what I saw, too.

YouTube is getting sorta insane with ads these days — maybe he saw
an ad
and got confused?

Yip, I did. I've added loads of ad blockers and none worked. But the
last one is meant to according to a friend - "Enhancer for Youtube" - be

What one?

What are you asking?

I was thinking something that was incorrect... and as such my question
did not make much sense. Sorry 'bout that.

Seems "Enhancer for YouTube" is not available (yet) for Safari.

Safari still exists? I thought that was the Apple freebie they gave away a decade or two ago.

It no longer exist for Windows, but is the primary browser on macOS. It works
well there -- some sites work better with Chrome, but for most it is faster
and uses less memory. It does not have many extensions -- though Apple has
said they will support a more popular method Chrome uses so they will get a
lot more soon.

It is more focused on privacy and security than is Chrome, which is nice.

I couldn't use a browser with less extensions available, just as I couldn't use an OS with less programs available.

Do you hate the word less fewer than you do the word less?

I think fewer is a proper subset of a countable set, and less is a
proper subset of an uncountable set. How many fewer or how much less is
up to the reader.

I see no reason to distinguish the two. You had some stuff, now some's gone. The amount is lower than what it used to be.
