multiple connections to a server
"multiple connections to a server or a resource by the same user
is not allowed" error msg. The error msg has been around many years as found on google & bing. The problem, for me, is that the shared folders on a nas is shown as not accessible &/or disconnected. The mapped drives cannot be disconnected as they are not connected. Have not found a permanent solution. The idea of stop/start the workstation works only for the particular session; however, in my case, it only worked for a couple of days. The "net use" shows nothing so that "net * /delete" cannot be done as the system(?) says no drives are connected. I started to have the problem after the 2004 update. I am the only user & there is no one else around to use my lan; there was only 1 computer but have acquired a laptop a couple weeks ago prior to the multiple user "error msg". The laptop is shutdown when not in use; but the tablets for reading are in sleep mode. Also some solutions on the internet say to do an edit to the group policy & change 'replace' to 'update' to the mapped drives. Problem is that configuration is out of date as m$ changed the group policy access & what can be done by the user administrator. In desperation, are there any ideas about fixes? I do not believe that m$ will even consider a fix as the "error msg" is considered deliberate; may be OK for a multiple user/machine environment, but not a home user of win 10 pro. The earliest date I've seen a msg about the multiple connections error is 2007. |

Also the mapped drives have been working for several years. The error msg pops even after the desktop computer power up & the file explorer selected to see the folders/drives. |

multiple connections to a server

Have you tried this: https://www.technipages.com/fix-mult...ame-user-error Yup. Tried both the net * /delete & the stop/start workstation. Got the mapped drives showing as mapped drives now by messing with the file explorer map drive setting; don't know why it worked as got multiple error msgs but 'all of a sudden' no map drive is shown in file explorer (ideal as then I can map the drives). Will see what happens tomorrow when I power up. One time I was able to do a sign-off/sign-on to get the mapped drives; but unable to do it again!!?? Tried that because someone said it worked for him but did not say that it was a permanent solution. There is only 1 user, me; so where how did it become multiple connections? I do have a feeling the idiots at m$ mixed up the terms computer map drives versus the drive maps for navigation; doing the win 10 'search' just shows references to drive maps for navigation. |
