Default Stupid Windows 10 HELP!

I am sooooo tired of W10 moving icons on my desktop. I've tried all of
the things by googling and nothing works. Any ideas?

DesktopOK seems to work for most people.

There are several third-party programs that save their positions. Do a
google search, try a few, and pick the one you like best,

Why do you keep using something you can't control?

That's the one I use too, and coincidentally I just needed to restore
with it. It was quick and easy.

I've used www.midiox.com/desktoprestore.htm since Win7 days, works
fine. You can save multiple desktop config if you want.

That has never happened on any of my Win10 computers once I set my
preferences (Win10 desktop behaves no differently than any previous
version of Windows back to 2.0). I don't use special applications, 3rd
party UIs, or other such things.

It can happen on Win10 (same as any previous version) if you change
screen resolution, e.g on a laptop swapping between internal screen and
external monitor.

Many people like DesktopOK:

https://www.softwareok.com/?seite=Freeware/DesktopOK

(freeware), but I use and prefer the older program, Iconoid (also freeware):

https://sillysot.com/

which still works flawlessly in Windows 10 on my laptop.

I used to get that with previous versions of Windows but W10 seems to
be far
better in that respect. In fact I don't think I've had to touch them
in the past
year and I usually have at least 40 permanent icons on the desktop
plus a few
temporary URL links here.

I don't know why some of us have that problem and others don't, but I'm
one of those who do. It happened to me just yesterday.

But it's a very minor problem, sine it's so easily fixed.

My WAG is that it comes down to a hardware or 3rd party UI quirk, or the
screen preference settings are wrong.

One person pointed out that if the screen resolution is changed the
icons get screwed up, but that should be expected since that behavior
has been the same with every version of Windows.

I don't think so, at least not in my case.

Yes, but that's not my situation. I never change my resolution.
