Yes, I did all that and now I can open the sites.
So lets uninstall and test Sea Monkey now. I started to before but I stopped because it said Mozilla Firefox Uninstall . Should I have clicked next? https://postimg.cc/1fZpvrtY After testing Sea Monkey I think it's prudent we create at least (1) clone for each computer. Of course, if the backspace functions after testing Sea Monkey we can proceed with cloning. Should we create also a Mrimg ring and a system restore point before doing so? Robert |

I actually did look at the switch when I when I
put the battery in. I removed the front cover to look at it (I should of taken pics) It looks OK to me although I didn't spend allot of time examining it and I can't tell if they are the same kind of switch nor would I be able to but it didn't appear to be loose or broken. The switch you showed me is only $19.00+ shipping. https://www.newegg.com/p/1HD-0021-00...quicklink=true You mean check where the switch connects to the board? I had to look up PSON and I'm trying to understand what your saying but its beyond me. However, I can check where the switch connects to the board to make sure its not loose if you think I should. I'm just afraid of screwing something up. Macrium had another update Ver 7.3.5925 on the 8500 and this time successful but nothing for the 780. Robert |

Robert I think you selected "Helper.exe" belonging to Firefox. You want the "Helper.exe" belonging to the Seamonkey folder. The folder name that Helper.exe is in, is entitled "Uninstall" or "Uninstaller", something like that. But it's in a tree with Seamonkey somewhere in the pathname. If you selected the correct one, the labeling would say "Would you like to remove Seamonkey", correct ? You would only click "Next" if "all your ducks were in a row" :-) ******* Removing Firefox wouldn't hurt it. You'd want to reinstall with the same version or a newer version, to align with the Firefox profile folder. You see, the thing is, the installers for these programs, they have "migration" logic. If they're at "Version 4", they can migrate 2 == 4 3 == 4 4 == 4 (tool realizes the version did not change, nothing need be done) 5 == 4 No, cannot go backwards, no logic for this 6 == 4 No, cannot go backwards, no logic for this The installers are designed to move forward in time, but not to support going backwards. If you ever need to plan for going slightly backwards, you have to keep copies of the older folders for that to work. As for the idea "how do you figure out what folders are needed to make a program work", you don't really know at first, how it's all lashed together. and nothing says the documentation is of good quality either. There was a program called MozBackup, the purpose of which was to keep the materials in question. As I understand it, the person who wrote that, no longer supports it. Paul |

![]() I un-installed Sea Monkey but then I was left without my bookmark menu. So I went to open my bookmarks and found manage bookmarks but unsure how to proceed? https://postimg.cc/ZvWX0Sbb https://postimg.cc/MvjhSq3t https://postimg.cc/bGqMkbyF https://postimg.cc/w7JbrF3G https://postimg.cc/McssBFrv https://postimg.cc/N95dkkWb https://postimg.cc/64ZzD56v Do I click import and backup? and export bookmarks to HTML? or do I select restore? In passing the backspace key still did not function. So after I get my bookmark menu back I install the new version of Sea Monkey on the 780 and the 8500 and both should update since they never did have a valid installation, is that correct? I guess I missed your instructions: 1) Enter "about:config" in the URL bar. 2) Follow the safety prompt. 3) In the search bar, look for "media.hardwaremediakeys.enabled" A value of True makes in interfere. A value of False stops the interference. Double-clicking the line toggles the Boolean value on the line. Visually verify it is True, double click, then it will be False as desired. 4) Close the Configuration Editor window. 5) Shut down and restart Firefox, to be sure. I tried but it says invalid URL so maybe I can do this once I get my menu back. So we still have the backspace key problem but I think its prudent we create at least (1) hd backup for each computer at this point. In passing, I only want the switch as a backup because the 8500 is getting harder and harder to start. Yes, I can still check to make sure it's seated on the motherboard. Thoughts/suggestions Robert OK, so it looks like you uninstalled Seamonkey. The pictures don't indicate that Seamonkey is installed now. You then seem to have reached for Firefox, with the intention of adjusting "about:config". And at the same time, you are worried about your Firefox bookmarks ? Were the Firefox bookmarks working before ? Is Firefox fully functional at the moment ? Firefox and Seamonkey keep separate folders for their materials, in their respective Profile folders. Modifying Seamonkey should not modify Firefox. Removing Seamonkey should not remove the Seamonkey Profile folders. In the Firefox Bookmarks Manager, you would use Import to Import an HTML file. Maybe you keep the HTML file on the USB key ? Should the USB key be plugged into the machine needing some bookmarks ? Then you'd navigate to the USB key and find the bookmarks there or so. You know where the latest Export Bookmarks is kept. "about:config" and "about:blank" are two different animals. The first one, brings up the Configuration Editor. The second one, is used in the Home Page setup in the preferences, to cause a blank page to appear for "least Firefox startup activity". You can type those values into the URL box. Paul |

![]() Yes, the FF bookmarks were working before. FF is not functional and is a blank screen. https://postimg.cc/Sjnbv9Bz The HTML is not on a flash key, I would need some direction from you to do that . I do not know where the latest bookmarks are kept unless you mean the Mrimgs? I tried typing about:config on the black and it does nothing. https://postimg.cc/XGhmb2RB Please help me restore the bookmarks Thanks, Robert |

Double-check. You can start by entering "about:", six characters total, and seeing if the program will tell you its version or not. Paul |

I tried just 'about' but it seemed to only want to search google
I tried 3 times and it just wouldn't stay plain. https://postimg.cc/bZBdM5pf https://postimg.cc/wRgBL8cL I tired it again and it worked but I couldn't proceed further because I didn't know what preferences to enter. https://postimg.cc/z3ssdS92 https://postimg.cc/DWwHWCX0 Before we do any more on the about:config can we please bring my my bookmarks back first? As far as Sea Monkey, I understand what you're telling me about
backups having to be sequential and all but as you say it did do something weird and did not install properly so we have to handle this with care otherwise we will be in the same situation as the other guy. That's why I asked if I should download the new version on the 8500 and maybe it will install correctly? As for the 780, the only link I have for Sea Monkey to download is the new version so how could it revert to the older version if I've uninstalled it? However, we shouldn't loose sight of our original main goal which was to clone the (4) hd's and I still think it's important we create at least (1) clone for each computers asap before something happens and I can't recover from. I can always copy over them if we find the solution to the backspace key etc. correct? Robert |

Robert Cloning using Macrium is pretty easy, being careful to copy the "Boot" and "System" partitions, as seen in Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc). If the original drive had three partitions, you might clone over two of them. ******* https://postimg.cc/DWwHWCX0 media.hardwaremediakeys.enabled and that preference should be False. Double-click it until it reads False. There is one picture here, similar to yours, with the sample typed in. Theirs shows True while you want False. https://www.zdnet.com/article/firefo...ltimedia-keys/ ******* Your bookmarks issue. https://postimg.cc/ZCbdQRCG https://postimg.cc/KR0Mh2TR Does the 780 have the same bookmarks as the 8500 ? The item you show in the first picture, has 33 items. Does this seem like the correct item count ? If so, then you can Restore that list. If on the other hand, you are looking for the 8500 bookmarks, perhaps you should Use the Bookmarks Manager on the 8500 Do an Export, store the Export on a USB key Take it over to the 780. On the 780, do an Import of the HTML file there. It depends on whether you keep two separate Bookmark files on purpose, a different list on the 8500 versus the 780, as to which list you Export/Import there. If on the other hand, you think the 33 items has simply disappeared, then restoring the item in the backup store listing 33 items, is the correct thing to do. These are judgment issues I can't answer, and you know your data best. Summary: Two mechanisms. Restore, restores damage to the current list using copies stored in the same profile folder. Whereas the Export/Import mechanism allows bringing a foreign list of bookmarks over to another machine. Paul |

![]() I have taken screen shots of all your instructions you gave me and saved them into a folder for Mrimg backups, restoring and cloning. As you can see the preference was true and I double clicked it so it's false. https://postimg.cc/4KQL7HvN https://postimg.cc/KR307H7W I keep two separate backup systems. The 780 only has the bare minimum of bookmarks. It's sort of an 'auxiliary control' if you will for the 8500; that's its sole function to serve as a backup computer should I need it. The 8500 in contrast has lots of bookmarks folders/files etc. and where I do all my work. Since the date was only 1 day ago I wouldn't lose a thing. I restored the 780 bookmarks and the bookmark menu still doesn't appear and it looks weird. I'm not worried so much about the 33 items as I am about the bookmark menu itself. I can put all of those items back easily but I need the bookmark menu back on the left side as it normally would be. https://postimg.cc/TLP9K7YC Am I doing something wrong? I can access them if I go into manage folders but I shouldn't have to. It should have the bookmarks menu open on the left hand side like the 8500 and like it use to be on the 780 but it doesn't. I did a search and found this. Next to my bookmark toolbar when I put the mouse on it says 'getting started'. Should I proceed? To enable the Bookmarks Toolbar: 1. Click on the menu button , then click. Customize Toolbar… ... 2. Select Toolbars from the dropdown menu at the bottom of the screen. 3. Select Bookmarks Toolbar. ... 4. Click the Done button when you're finished. Thoughts/suggestions Robert |

Click the Done button when you're finished. Thoughts/suggestions Robert Well, I don't want to start there. Go to Bookmark Manager, select the Export option and Export the current bookmarks to a file. Now, open Notepad, navigate to where you stored the Exported HTML file. Examine the entries. Do you see the entries that are missing, in the file ? Say, for example, you're missing a bankofamerica item, you could go into Notepad and search for bankofamerica. Is the entry in there ? The Bookmarks has two kinds of items. It has data entries. It also has "separators and decorations". Your job is to inspect the Exported Bookmarks and see if content really is missing. It might just be hidden. If you suspect the file is "mostly content complete", you can go back to the GUI version and try and figure out why. On mine when this happens, I usually open a subsection (one of the triangle things) and my missing ones are in there and they haven't really disappeared. But to be "editable" or "recoverable", the lines with the URLs have to be in there, or, they're not coming back and you would need to restore some other item from the archives. Your picture is not suggestive of a "hiding place", and that's why I'm asking for some Notepad work first. To see if you're satisfied with what is in there, or, that the contents are a shambles and you should be looking elsewhere for another version to try. Paul |

![]() The 780 had a successful Macrium update V 7.3.5854 to Ver 7.3.5925 I followed your instructions and the bookmark's themselves all look intact. All I'm missing is the actual bookmark menu.
