As far as I am aware, you can not install SP1 over SP2. You will need to
uninstall SP2, or re-install from scratch using RTM or SP1 media. Keith C. Jakobs, MCP "bRoOkLyN" wrote in message ... I currently have sp2 and i would like to downgrade to sp1. You can't do that, plus why you would want to in the first place? SP2 is
safer and more secure and, I believe, update support from Microsoft for SP1 is ending next year anyway. You'd have to uninstall SP2 if it's listed in Add/Remove or format and reinstall Windows using the SP1 or original system CD. -- Peter Toronto, Canada XP Home SP2 P4 dual HT @ 3ghz, 360gb HD, 2gb DDR. He may want to actually go back to a more compatible O/S!
Dont know if you noticed, but Microsoft is breaking as many things as they are fixing! I actually had to uninstall SP1 of Server 2003 on my domain controller because it was not compatible with my hardware. I think that is an excellent reason to not get on the 'upgrade bandwagon.' Outside the IT world, a lot of people and businesses have very good reasons for not going with the status quo. I know of several businesses that have absolutely no need to upgrade their NT and Win98 networks to 2003 and XP, except that they cant get support from MS on those products any more. And honestly, at this point, those O/S's have become so deprecated, it could even be argued that they are more secure (once patched to date) without all these extra technologies available. Brooklyn... if you have a good reason to go back to SP1, then by all means, dont let anyone discourage you from doing so. Sooner or later Microsoft will realize they are quickly making their products extremely unattractive to the business desktop. And the more of us that insist on sticking with what we know works, the sooner that may be. Just my 2 cents Keith C. Jakobs, MCP "Peter" ex-brit AT rogers DOT com wrote in message ...
