Probably the easiest (or quickest) ways to get a clean setup of Windows
XP is to get VirtualPC from Microsoft and install a clean copy of Windows XP into a virtual machine. Just do the install of Windows XP, followed by visiting the Windows Updates site as often until all critical and recommended updates are done and no more listed (except do NOT install IE8), and then test what happens when you connect to the bank.
