Thanks for clarifying.
:-(

We're gonna cut loose; break our moorings; free ourselves from the
fetters of the EEU; launch afresh on the oceans of the world. We'll
create a new Elizabethan age; Francis Drake plundering the Spanish Main,
circumnavigating the globe, Britannia Rules The Waves.
In the meantime we'll cosy up to D Trump, and follow in his wake until
the time arrives.

curious as to why you want to upgrade it in the first place?

Because if he doesn't, it will become unsupported by April 2019

I suppose there's a lot of time to waste between now and then.

In April 2019, upgrading Windows will be the least of our problems!

What does that mean? What's happening in April 2019?

I suspect mechanic lives in Britain.

No matter what that cryptic statement means, I've put
an extra tin of baked beans in the pantry.

Many are building personal stocks of food and medicines, not to
mention lots of water, just in case! We'll be lucky if there's
electricity so we can update Windows after March 2019, when we leave
the EU, the single market, the customs union and so on.

If not is MS still updating 1709?

Yes, so I wouldn't be too concerned unless you find indications in your
logs that imply that 1803 isn't compatible with your tablet.
