Default Anyone else getting this flood of messages?

I'm getting what looks like either echos of posts or someone duping
posts to flood the group. It makes it impossible to see what's new. I
get 100's a day.

I have heard people complaining about this for three days. I don't see
any of those posts. Even after I remove my filters, I don't see them.

Interesting! I see you use Claws Mail, and albasani.net news server.
Either the server is applying filters, or your program is configured to
do so without you knowing.

I was thinking it might be albasani.net filtering the flood. I wonder
if anyone else is using albasani?

The flood seems to have stopped here.
Fingers crossed.

I just did and I found 36 copies of your message and only one had
replies so that obviously was yours and the other 25 were 'splatter' as
they say.

Sure makes it had to read these posts.

Have you tried this message filter?

You seem to be on ES, as am I. I just had
one episode where all blocked posters showed up
due to the "uuhec.net" problem. I then added
uuhec.net to my filter. I haven't had a problem
since. I never saw multiples of unblocked posts.

I setup a filter. I'll see if it does any good. It will take a day or so.

It has just stopped here. Either my nntp provider has applied a filter,
or the culprit stopped.

You simply have to apply a filter on "From @wildcat.uuhec.net". I change
their colour, then remove manually - not automatically to see what goes
on with them.

It's possible Vanguards email had an effect, and
eventually had the feed disconnected.

I applied the filter a couple of days ago to Tbird; clicked "run now",
and it removed all the ones present and hasn't let a single one in since.

I'm still getting the flood so if it stopped for you, it's due to a filter.

No any effect at individual.net. They wouldn't do anything because,
gee, the original posts were still on the servers despite the faked
duplicates (aka forgeries) flooding the newsgroup.

I did send a notification e-mail to . That is the only
contact they mention at their web site. They state that e-mail will get
signed up to their mailing list. Despite telling them that I did NOT
want to get onto their mailing list, they've proven themself
untrustworthy, so I use a Spamgourmet alias when contacting them. They
they hide behind a private domain registration where their registrar
pretends to be the domain registrant, so the real registrant can hide.
No getting contact info from their domain registration. I have yet to
get a reply from them.

Per their own description at their web site, they should not be allowed
peer to Usenet. They are operating a mailing list (email-to-NNTP
gateway) similar to how [anonymizing] remailers work. Since they are a
remailer, and since I filter out every remailer I encounter in Usenet,
and also due to their forgery flooding, they're now filtered in my
client. Another remailer bits the dust. If someone wants to
participate in Usenet then they had better use a real NNTP server in the
Usenet mesh network instead of piping their submissions through a mail
server through a gateway into Usenet.

During the Great Wildcat Flood of forgeries, I checked Eternal-September
and the forgeries were showing up there, too. I could not test Albasani
because my account apparently has expired from non-use (I'll have to
request another one). The problem is that once peered to anyone in
Usenet, the peering relationships thereafter would push uuhec's articles
everywhere else in the NNTP mesh network. Although many Usenet
providers employ flooding filters, those only work if the articles are
the same (i.e., a high count of the same content). uuhec was flooding
the newsgroup with forged copies of the original posts, so the forgeries
were different from each other. However, the flood of forgeries is no
different than Burford's scripted dumping of his RSS feeds into the
alt.comp.freeware newsgroup: both are still flooding the newsgroups, one
with forgeries and the other with his news feeds, and both make finding
valid articles difficult unless filters are applied.
