Microsoft didn't do only that, but also extorted major (largest?) PC
supplier X that if they didn't obsolete their (X's) product Y - which
Microsoft's product Z was competing with -, they (X) wouldn't get any
Windows licenses anymore, effectively putting their (X's) PC line out of
business.

At the time, I was working for X and the superior product Y indeed
was killed.
