Unexpected overnight restarts
Terry Pinnell wrote:
Any thoughts on why, with 'Automatic restart' switched OFF, my last unwanted restart took place anyway? If a crash happens where the OS cannot intercept it, I would expect to arrive and find the machine in a shutdown state. And then checking logs later should contain indications of a "dirty shutdown". Like, what would happen if you switched the power off at the back ? Some crashes will be that effective. There has to be a control on the machine somewhere (BIOS ACPI object), which when triggered is as effective as switching off at the back. Paul |
