Default Internet Explorer 8 problem

when I start the IE app, i noticed that it was sluggish; i then realized when
looking at the Windows Task Manager window that there were 2 "iexplore.exe"
activated even though there is only one IE window showing on the screen.

I've run the chkdsk tool but it did not correct the problem.

Any advice is appreciated.

thanks

You can have several in task manager if you start IE and then minimize the
screen then start IE and minimize etc.

I've noticed that; good to have it verified. IMO it's not the cause of the
sluggishness though. My first install of IE8 was very sluggish too, with
some irritating pauses here & there. A remove/reinstall did no good; same
results.
Someone said not to use the Updates download, go and download it
separately. I did, and have been quite happy with it since.
No idea whether coincidence or fact, but ... it worked at least in this
case.

Why did you assume that chkdsk would have any effect at all on the problem?
It's no surprise at all that it had no effect. Is it still sluggish if you
run it without ad-ons?
