Default Reposting: Problem With Hidden Updates

Using Microsoft Windows XP Professional, SP3
I know this has been posed before, but I searched the forum and also used
google, and couldn't find a definite solution. I know that I have at least
one or two "hidden updates," (for example, I chose not to install IE8). But
in the Windows Update Page, "RESTORE HIDDEN UPDATES" IS grayed out, and
searching for updates (either Critical or Custom) reveals no "Hidden"
updates. How do I get all my hidden updates, including the one invoking IE8
back. Thanks.

If it is grayed out, the updates you hid are no longer considered critical
or important and were removed from the "hide" feature. This is true for IE8
among others.

Do you want to install IE8?

**************

Download IE8 to your Desktop. Do not use Windows or Microsoft Updates.

Internet Explorer 8 download:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...3-08cdecd8852b

Restart your computer. With no other programs running, disable your
anti-virus program and any spyware or spam programs you may have. If you are
running a third party firewall, disable it and enable the Windows firewall.

Now install IE8 from the Desktop. When you're done, restart your computer
twice and then make sure your disabled programs are running again.
