trigger port
Greetings,
If you mean for your router, just opening or forwarding ports won't allow Messenger's functions to work, unless the router has support for Messenger built-in. Instead, Messenger supports Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) which allows the necessary ports for most Messenger functions (UPnP file transfer only in MSN Messenger 5) to be opened and forwarded automatically. However, in order for this to work, you'll need to have a UPnP capable router. A number of routers have firmware updates which support UPnP, check your router manufacturers website to see if there is one available. If you do upgrade to a new firmware version, remember to look through your router configuration to make sure that UPnP is turned on (not all routers give you the option) and be sure to reboot before you attempt voice/video, etc. As a sidenote, here are the ports for Messenger: TCP ---- 1863: Main Messenger connection 6891-6900: File Transfer 1503: Application Sharing/Whiteboard 3389: Remote Assistance/Desktop UDP ----- 5004-65535: Voice/video ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Windows MVP, Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com "tsk" wrote in message ... what's the trigger port for messenger? |
