Default Windows new light and dark settings...

I see there are some new settings, including "light" and "dark", for
"Windows" and "apps". Probably wishful thinking, but that needs to be
tried, to see if it's an improvement over dark color schemes that never
worked because you end up with hidden items. The question is whether
Microsoft will darken things without darkening pictures and videos (and
icons, which so far are a lost cause). I will try and find out. Not
likely, but who knows. Would make my current inverted (white on black)
system more efficient.

Before hopefully ditching Magnifier... The only complaint with Windows'
new settings is a lack of distinct hover color when mousing over the
Taskbar. The hover color is radical and super obvious when using high
contrast, but high contrast was hiding some items (in Firefox and maybe
elsewhere). I don't know if high contrast was hiding items before 1903
and I just didn't realize it. The only other complaint is the choice of
titlebar colors. It's like Microsoft has run the title bar through an
ugly machine ever since the awesome looking gradient title bars in
Windows Me (or SE).

At first glance... Difficult to tell, I have so much color
configuration stuff going. Very likely just wishful thinking, as
usual. I will do a fresh install at some time, to figure it out for
sure.

Yes, I know you don't want a darker color. Why Microsoft disallows
darker colors is, well, one can only guess it has something to do with
the Nanny State.

The custom colour picker seems to disallow those with R/G/B values below
63, but you can click on "More" and enter the values directly, there
0/0/0 is accepted and does lead to black title bars.

Thanks. Yes, I see you can also use the color picker before clicking
"More" and then "Done".

You can define your own colour for that via Settings Colours. Click
the + button by 'Custom Colours' and select your preferred colour then check 'Title
bars and window borders' under 'Show the accent colour on the following surfaces'.

Ever since Windows 95 I've used a pale green colour for the window
background which is easier on the eyes if you're typing or programming a lot but
there's no official setting to change that under W10. However, (if you know what
you're doing) the registry setting branch for colours under W10 are identical to
that from Windows 7 apart from the order of the keys and I've found that you can
simply transfer the settings by exporting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Colors
from W7 as a text file and merging it straight into the W10 registry.
W10 doesn't seem to apply a lot of those colour settings but it *does*
change the "Window" colour which some programs (such as Textpad and Visual Basic 6
which I still use). In my case, it's now "185 200 185" which is what I used in
previous versions instead of the default "255 255 255" (white).

I definitely DON'T recommend this for anyone who isn't familiar with the registry.
As always, back it up first if you want to try it!

It most certainly is interesting.

Naturally the new built-in Windows light-dark color themes do not affect
programs (maybe they affect some smartphone apps, but who knows, I'm a
PC user). It does affect the file manager.

Also, not sure when it happened, YouTube now has a built-in dark color
scheme. The only thing it misses is the scrollbar, but oh well. Yes, the
scrollbar is a Windows thing, but the question is how to change it
without using Magnifier to invert all colors.

The Windows thing and the new YouTube thing might be enough to go
without Magnifier inverting all colors and then re-inverting graphics as
possible. Stylebot for Chrome and maybe similar for Firefox can be used
for any other important websites, while excluding its effect on YouTube.
I forgot to look at VLC but most of it is graphics. Too bad Microsoft's
new color settings don't apply to WordPad, but no surprise. Maybe
EditPad Lite will do instead.

The Magnifier shortcut keys, or the new color filters shortcut keys, can
still be used to momentarily invert colors.
