Two possibilities.
1. Belarc isn't smart enough
or
2. 10240 (like prior Insider Builds) shows up as 8.1 on build version tools.

What it is that Microsoft thinks I am to stupid to realize that this is
simply Win 8.1 with the interface changed a little bit and user control
totally removed.
I will wait until other people try this upgrade and see what kind of
mess this will be when dual booting etc.

What are you saying is removed in Windows 10?

Explain why you think Windows 10 will be messy to dual boot.

Whats bad is not the dual booting its the not free update. If you
update an os that You paid money for it is my understanding that this
key will not work anymore on the os that you upgraded. That is really
not my idea of free, but simply an OEM version of windows 10. Free would
be if I could install it on another computer.Microsoft would never give
it away for free because they are simply to greedy. their version of
free is to lock you in,and take all control from the user. I am an
insider and have used every version that was available so far. I have
dual booted most of the windows 10 version and its not hard to do on a
legacy motherboard. But I do not know if I have the stomach to give up
all that freedom for a souped up version of windows 8.1. I ran widows 98
and never did an update, and now they want auto update. That is so they
can constantly invade my privacy. This will probably not bother a lot of
users but it is very tough for me to accept.

Interface-wise it is more like Windows 7 - start menu in lower left. I beta
tested it for a while and never used the social buttons, so with a few
tweaks, removed them and basically had a conventional xp,Vista,Win 7
desktop.

As for Belarc - good program but MAYBE there is not an "official code" for
Win10 yet so MAYBE in beta testing they still use the "last known code "
which Belarc still sees as 8.1 ( which was 7 WITHOUT the social interface)

Please try another program, such as Speccy from Piriform
(www.piriform.com/speccy), which in its most current form supports
Windows 10. It shows the proper OS name and build number in its
report, using both the RTM version released on July 29th as well as
Insider preview/beta builds released since then.

I reported here several days ago that the current version of Belarc
Advisor correctly identifies Windows 10.

I'm still catching up, sorry I haven't seen that one yet.
