You'll be able to get a web browser for longer.

As long as the builds are done with something other than Visual Studio.

The day will come when it'll happen to W10 too.
It's just a matter of time.

W10 version 1803 is already out of support, except for the 'Enterprise'
edition of version 1803 which goes out of support in November 2020 (10
months from now).

Hopefully soon since it sucks.

There is no need to die of withdrawal symptoms when something is
withdrawn from the public. You can continue using XP and Windows 7 as
long as you want to to satisfy your hunger for old technologies. I said
as long as you want to because some of you might be concerned that the
hardware will die soon. You can avoid this by buying exactly the same
make and model of your current hardware parts and when something dies
you simply replace it with what you buy today.

Building a machine or to rebuild a machine is not a big problem as some
you might think. Just go and buy:

Main mother Board of the same model you currently have
Buy spare cables just in case needed in the future
Buy a hard disk ( or two or three) of the same type you are currently using
Buy a floppy drive if you are still using it
Buy a spare DVD drive to match your current drive
Buy spare floppies and CD/DVD media for future use
Make copies of your current software package media - CDs, DVDs,
Floppies etc
Make hard copies of serial numbers
And finally create an image of your current hard drive and save it
somewhere safe if needed in the future.

Of course, you need to keep all these purchases safe so that they are
not damaged. you'll need them in 20 years time to continue using your
beloved XP and Windows 7 operating system and related software
packages. You might not be able to use any websites but hey it is not
important as long as you've got your XP and Windows 7 still running.

Problem solved. Now print this out and read several times so that you
can memorise it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now stop crying about these things.

With over 1.2 billion devices now running Windows 10, customer
satisfaction is higher than any previous version of windows.

Yes, but what replaces it will be worse ...

[I understand it's already happened to some versions of W10. But since
MS said W10 will be the last version, all new versions are called W10,
with a sub-number. (There might come a time when the "10" gets dropped,
I guess.)]

So, MS is copying Apple's Mac OS X.

Yes, definitely. All along actually, ever since early Mac OS version,
starting with Windows 95.

And IMO, it's also one of reasons why they skip from version 8 to 10. Just
to keep pace with Mac OS version number. Including skipping kernel version
from 6 to 10, which technically don't make any sense. For me, Win10 kernel
maturity is still at around v6.4 or v6.5. There's still not enough
significant changes to be considered as v7.0.

Everything is just for the sake of marketting and profit.

I though about posting that, but then I thought someone will eventually post
it. And so it happens...

I seriously miss the old days. Also, major number increases for major
versions like crazy web browsers and others.
