Corrupted Swap file-partistion
Wow - thanks for the detailed information!
Quinoa S "Ron Martell" wrote in message ... "Quinoa S" wrote: Ah...so the idea of putting the paging file on a separate disk to increase performance no longer applies with XP (since the paging file needs to be on the boot partition for certain purposes)? This is relevent for me as I will shortly be getting a second hard disk. Windows XP supports multiple page files and with two physical drives it is worthwhile configuring a page file on each drive. The major page file should be on the drive that is least used, and if that is not the boot drive then there should be a second, smaller, page on the boot drive that is at least equal to the size specified for the system failure memory dump. In my own computer I also have two physical drives. My page file configuration is to have 100 minimum 800 maximum on the second hard drive (used mainly for CD Images and large downloads) and on the boot drive I have it configured as 10 mb minimum and 50 mb maximum. The memory dump is configured to the small 64KB version. The page file on the boot drive is pretty much never used and I have never seen it to increase to more than the 10 mb minimum size setting. The page file on the second drive does get used and on occasion has gotten larger than the 100 mb minimum setting. My system has 480 mb (512 - 32 video) of RAM. Hope this clarifies the situation.
