fax sharing printing
Hy
I have SBS 2000 with a fax server instaled. When instaling the fax client on a windows XP system I encounter a problem. This is how is suppose to be done "To configure Modem Sharing Client: Open a command prompt, and then type the following command, where server_name is the name of your server: netmodem view \\server_name NOTE: If you have created a modem pool, this pool is listed. If you did not create any modem pools, you must create one on the server. Type the following text, where server_name is the name of your server and pool is the name of the pool that is displayed in step 1: netmodem use * \\server_name\pool You receive confirmation of a successful attachment and a report of the local communications (COM) port that is being used. Type the following command: net stop serrdr Type the following command, and then close the command prompt window: net start serrdr Double-click Phone and Modem Options in Control Panel. Click the Modems tab, and then click Add. After the Add Hardware Wizard starts, click Next. Click Next, and then click the modem that your server is using from the list that is displayed. Click Selected Ports, and then click the port that is displayed in step 2. Click Next, and then click Finish. To verify that Shared Modem Client is working, right-click the modem, click Properties, click the Diagnostics tab, and then click Query Modem http://support.microsoft.com/default...scid=kb;en-us; 315773&Product=sbs" When instaling the modem the ports specified in step 2 are not an option in add new modem window and i can select only com ports already use. For example on a PC with com 1 instaled, the netmodem is used on com2 but i can't select com 2 when instaling a new modem |
