Check these registry keys, correct if necessary

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\URL\
DefaultPrefix default="http://"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\URL\
Prefixes
"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"

BACK UP AND SAVE YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE EDITS. EDITING THE REGISTRY CAN
DAMAGE YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM. YOU SHOULD NOT EDIT THE REGISTRY UNLESS YOU
ARE CERTAIN YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS YOU ARE DOING. If you are unsure, you may
want to wait. Someone else may have another solution.

I was tooling about with gpedit to tighten up my system from all the crap

im worried about and i seem to have inadvertantly made it so i cannot access
secure webpages. IE: https://

I did not make a back up of my default policies (stupid I know, not sure

if i could have short of backing up the registry.)

Id like to be able to fix this without reformating again I just spent 2

days setting up xp.

Please help!

I cant access my email now :S

Thanks but all those keys are fine.

I think it is more of an issue of my group policy config. Ive been over it at least thity times so far and cant find what might be making it so I cant access any secure sites (some work, except for the important ones)

gpedit.msc

What about using System Restore? The gpedit.msc console is just a front end to the registry, so System Restore should reverse the changes. Mind you, it will reverse all the changes you made, not just the one that is causing the problem.

Hope this helps.
