Default opening files from a different pc

I formerly owned a Dell. I have files from it on floppy
discs, and want to open them in readable form on my
Gateway.

Are you having problems reading the disk, or can you see the files on the
disk and just can't open them? If the latter is true, then you may need to
install whatever software you were using before. What type of files?
