adding cards to integrated mboard
I have an old computer with a motherboard that has integrated onboard sound
and graphics. Is it possible to disable these and add my own sound and video cards? How do I disable them? thanks |

Usually in the BIOS. You should identify the mobo by make
and model and download the manual from the maker's web site. If you don't have the details get EVEREST from www.lavalys.com or the Bel Arc Advisor from www.belarc.com to find the details you need. You need to have the slots available to add the cards, the sound card will be PCI and the graphics can be either PCI or better AGP. If the computer is really old, you may find that buying a new computer will get you better CPU, hard drives and sound /graphics. -- The people think the Constitution protects their rights; But government sees it as an obstacle to be overcome. Yes, you need to find the manual along with your mainboard to disable
sound and viedo card in BIOS. If the manual cannot be found, you need to contact your mainboard manufacturer to get more details how to disable them in BIOS.
