Default Internet Explorer hangs

When I opened IE6 it would hang as soon as I type or clicked anything. So I
tried installing IE7 Beta 3 and that did the same thing. So I removed IE7
Beta 3 and tried reinstalling IE6 from Microsoft's website and it refused to
install IE6 because it said there was a later version on the computer even
though I removed the later version.

I tried deleting the Internet Explorer folder from the computer but it
wouldn't let me do that.

What I need is a working copy of IE6 or higher on the computer. How can I
achieve this?

Robert

Reinstall Internet explorer:

insert the windows install cd
start – run – and type or copy/paste:

rundll32.exe setupapi, InstallHintSection DefaultInstall132
c:\Windows\inf\ie.inf

hit enter

Now if you want to repair Internet Explorer:
Start – run – type or copy/paste sfc /scannow (press enter)

wait and follow the instructions

or

Start – search , and choose files or folders, click the more advanced
options and check “search hidden files and folders”, now type: ie.inf , look
on C drive...click search now
The correct ie.inf file is located at the windows\inf folder...Right click
the ie.inf file and choose install from the drop-down menu that
appears..Restart computer when files are finish copied.
