Transfer XP OS files from disk to USB flash
We made a trial run to put our XP OS disk files - onto a flash
drive.... Except for ONE large folder within the files, the transfer would take about 2 hours plus... Question is: CAN you use a USB 2.0 flash drive as an OS startup, given that all files have been put ON it? If not, why? Thx!

Thx! would be handy that would. take your flashdrive round to a friends, plug in the drive into their comp. and there you have your own comp to use.

We simply need someone that's an expert to tell us IF this could be done... ...esp on how to BOOT from a USB Port with the flash being like an OS disk....

One can "MAKE" a non-bootable USB flashdrive into a bootable flashdrive in the same manner that one can MAKE a VW Bug into a ski-boat. To prepare for the possibility that the original CD becomes damaged: Burn a copy of your WIn XP CD to another CD. Now you have a backup Win XP CD. Steve

According to MVP's, and MS, win will not function from a usb drive, even if
your bios has a boot from usb option. There has however I believe been posted a method to do this. Suggest you google wrote in message ups.com...
