OK, this should be easy. I can't seem to get my PCs password protected and
working the way I want them to. PC #1 runs XP Pro and has multiple
accounts, all with passwords and everything seems to work OK most of the
time. Anytime we need to switch from 1 account to another, the sign in
screen comes up just the way it should. When multiple accounts are open and
the PC is idle for awhile, something 'times out' and the sign in screen
comes up when someone goes on the PC again, just the way I want it to. The
problem is when only 1 account is open. It never seems to time out, so when
the 1 account is left opened and the PC is left unattended, anyone else can
come in and use that account. I want the PC to time out after awhile and
revert to the sign-in screen even if the account was not logged off.

PC #2 (running XP Home) only has 1 account and it does the same thing; since
only one account is opened, it never times out and is accessible to anyone.

thanks in advance.

Right click a blank spot on the desktop and choose Properties | Appearance.
On the Screen Saver tab choose a screen saver and check the box "On resume
password protect".

Thanks Frank. I've got it working now. I got thrown off because the XP Pro
PC setting reads "On resume, display Welcome screen", not "On resume
password protect".

cheers
