No. Neither Windows XP, nor any other version of Windows, has ever included
Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, or any other significant application
software. Such programs have to be bought, either by themselves or as part
of Microsoft Office.

If your previous computer, running an older version of Windows, came with
one or more of these, it was because the vendor who sold it bundled them as
part of the package he sold you, not because that version of Windows came
with them. Some, but not all, vendors do the same with Windows XP.

Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its
individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any* Windows operating
system. They are, and always have been, separate applications, that
must be purchased and installed separately.

For the budget-minded (who also don't need all of Office's specific
features), there's the free, open source OpenOffice:

some do and some dont, the one i have doesent have it , i have got note pad
and windows journal viewer , and word pad , thats in the accessories, that
is ok for some word processer ok by on hy other pc that had all 8 word
processing programmes exel etc. it depends on what they have pre loaded when
u buy it

With prices points so low on the hardware, no OEM on the retail shelf can
afford to include any part of Office.

That said, I do not know if any on-line only vendors offer models that ship
with an OEM version of Windows, but it would certainly increase the price of
the units dramatically.

We have two dell laptops in the office that came with Office 2003 Pro.

option*. This means it costs more and the customer must request it.

The OP asked about a retail product. Answers supplied were both accurate
and applicable.

Dell offers and upgrade for the OEM version on some of their models, but
they are neither retail nor are they free upgrades.
