Default Outlook Express

I keep setting OExpress as my selected email program under internet options,
however something (updates?) keep changing it to Outlook. On occasion (once
every month or so) email will go in to Outlook - which I learn weeks later,
or Outlook will come up when I select my email icon on my desk top (today).
why does it keep changing and how can I make my selection permanant?

thank you

Make sure you don't have outlook set as your main program. If you don't use
outlook why not delete the account settings?
