How do I configure my computer to auto connect to the internet through dial
up when I boot it up? I have ADSL dial up connection with a network adapter on the system. Right now I have to manually double click the shortcut on my desktop for dial up to connect me to the internet. What can I do in Windows to set dial up to auto connect when I start my computer? It used to work like this but suddenly it stopped. Please help. Thanks. |

Microsoft Windows XP - Rasdial:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d....mspx?mfr=true -or- Right-click the dial-up connection in the Network and Dial-up Connections window, and then click properties. Click the Options tab. Click to deselect the Prompt for name and password, certificate, etc. check box. Click OK. Create shortcut to that connectoid, and try launching the connectoid shortcut via command-line. It dials automatically (assuming that the username and password are already stored.) -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] Windows® Troubleshooting http://www.winhelponline.com "BarryD" wrote in message ... Hi Ramesh,
Thanks for your help. All the check boxes are unchecked and have always been. How do you launch the connection shortcut in a command line? Is this a registry command? Please explain step by step how to execute the above. Thanks for your kindness in this regard. Hi,
Assuming that you created a shortcut to the connection: Move the shortcut to the Startup folder of your user account. If that does not work, place it in a batch file: Example: - - - - - - - "%userprofile%\desktop\connection.lnk" Place the Batch file in the Startup folder. -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] Windows® Troubleshooting http://www.winhelponline.com "BarryD" wrote in message news Hi Ramesh, Thanks for your help.
