Default Preserving desktop icon arrangement when the screen resolution cha

I noticed that when I change the screen resolution the arrangement of icons
on the desktop is not preserved. Is there a way to "lock" the icon
arrangement so it is not changed when the screen resolution changes? I am
aware that when you change the resolution to one that is lower it might mean
that certain columns might not fit in their current location anymore, but I
am not referring to that (I am assuming there will still be enough room for
the current columns to fit after the resolution has been changed). I want
this "locking" feature to work whether the icons are in the normal upper left
part of the screen or any other location such as the lower right part of the
screen before the resolution is changed. Thank you.
