repeated request for activation
I upgraded to XP Home a couple of years ago. I have anti-
spyware software installed. After installing SP2 I am continually reminded to activate Windows. I have re- activated several times. Is it possible the anti-spyware is blocking the activation? |

repeated request for activation
Possible Resolution:
Boot into "Safe Mode" by pressing (F8) during a reboot. Go to Start Run and type: regsvr32 regwizc.dll , and hit enter. Then go again to Start Run and type: regsvr32 licdll.dll , and hit enter again. Apparently, and I can't say how, the above files became unregistered. -- Carey Frisch Microsoft MVP Windows XP - Shell/User Be Smart! repeated request for activation
I had the same problem with a customers computer a few weeks ago. In the end
I ran the file and transfer settings wizard on the affected computer (After I had activated windows over the phone for the 50th time) for each logon/profile. Then I re-installed Windows XP and chose to delete the exsisting windows folder and contents. Then use the file and settings wizard after you have re-installed windows and your applications first. then activate and it should work, if not and you still get the activation process after every reboot then try checking the cmos battery on your motherboard as this can cause the clock/date to screw up the activation process. Check out the following articles for reference on re-installation. http://support.microsoft.com/?id=316941 and Files and Settings Transfer Wizard http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...ford/november1 2.asp http://www.windows-help.net/WindowsXP/howto-01.html HOW TO: Use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard By Using the Windows XP CD-ROM http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;306186 HOW TO: Use Files and Settings Transfer Wizard in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;293118 HOW TO: Use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard with a Wizard Disk in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;306187 Hope this helps "Carey Frisch [MVP]" wrote: Possible Resolution: Boot into "Safe Mode" by pressing (F8) during a reboot. repeated request for activation
It is quite possible that the anti-spyware deleted certain WPA registry keys.
You might want to try use some other software. I have used LavaSoft's Ad-Aware SE and I have never had any problems with activation. I don't think anti-spyware can block activation requests either. Thanks! Ning Zhang "Joe Horton" wrote: I had the same problem with a customers computer a few weeks ago. I just spent half a day Googling, MSing, and networking and every reference
except yours was useless, several saying that it could not be done. The dll re-reging you specified worked like a dream. Thanks, thanks, thanks! repeated request for activation
I am having the same problem as discussed here except each time I click OK to
activate, it says windows is already activated and shuts down. I went to regedit and did all the things I was advised but when it got down to finding the "resets" to delete it, it was NOT there! Please, please someone help. I am trying to get this older computer up and running again after installing windows vista (bad idea). My daughter needs this computer for college. Thanking you in advance! "Gemini" wrote: Hi, I am having the same problem with repeated activation request, but registering of these .dll filed does not help.
