XP3 "USB Device Not Recognized" when adapter/MMC plugged in. Are there
drivers to enable XP3 to recognize the files &/or display the images without
installing the Canon software?

You'll most likely have to update the drivers for your media card reader.
To do this, visit the support/drivers & downloads page of the manufacturer
of your system.

After finding this pre-SP3 link; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923293 ; I
discovered that SP3 has incorporated the drivers; and while talking the
situation over with my keyboard & jiggling the USB connector, caused the
drivers to become conversant through the Explorer window.

XP3 can indeed read & even display and possibly edit at least the SD card
jpg's all without the Canon software. There seems to exist other folders &
data on the card which I will need to further discuss with my keyboard or my
cup of munchies.
