Default Logon screen has no accts showing

I'm running XP Home SP3 in single user mode. Up until today it
booted just fine onto my desktop. Now it stalls at the multi-user
logon screen but there are no user names displayed. Clicking in
the name area has no effect, nor does hitting 'enter'. The ReBoot
button does work. I made no changes to the system nor installed
any programs yesterday.

Suggestions anyone?

At the log-in screen (which I am assuming is the XP Welcome screen),
press Ctrl+Alt+Del and then while still holding down the Ctrl+Alt, press
Del a second time. This should bring up a classic Windows log-in
dialog. See if you can log in that way, and post back here.

Never mind.
System Restore in safe mode fixed it.
