Default How to stop pop up messages arriving

Here's a nice user-friendly "How To" on the subject from MS:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p...e/stopspam.asp

The article lists alternative methods to stopping the Spam - aside from the
draconian step of disabling the service.

Some people say that disabling the service won't affect anything - what they
mean is that it is not likely to affect anything if your system is set up
like most people's.

Still, I think that the solution described in the link above is sufficient
to stop the messages without causing more problems down the road.

Dear Sir / madam.

I am getting pop up messages from windows messenger every
20 minutes from a company who wants me to by a software
to stop these messages.

Please can someone tell me how to stop these pop up
messages.

My windows messenger service is turned off but I still
get them.

Your assistance would be much appreciated.

Regards.

Colin.
