"Forte" wrote in message ... How to delete reappearing "recovered folders" in WLM in Win 7 & 8.1 ? I remember there was some time ago a subject place here somewhere, but cannot find it now. Any help will be appreciate , of course. Thanks ! I still using WLM 2009 build 14 on Windows 7. I don't know about Windows 8 or 8.1. The way I prevent "recovered folders" from being generated is to change from "working online" to "working offline" before I exit WLM. I've been doing this for a couple of years and have never had "recovered folders" generated since I started. Of course, doing the above, also impacts IE. I don't use other browsers, but I would assume it would also impact them. Therefore, after exiting WLM, while "working offline", I open IE to get back online for other purposes. This may sound like a convoluted "workaround", but it just takes a couple of seconds. You've spent more time reading this than it takes to actually do it. Hope this helps. -- Richard |

Any help will be appreciate , of course. Thanks ! Recovered folders in WLM is an indication of the following occurring. - being closed or aborted during an indexing process - closed during a send/receive - closed during an automatic polling (occurs about every 71 minutes regardless of the protocol used for email accounts (POP3, IMAP, HTTP) - loss of internet connection - closed during a move or copy process when indexing and message store database (default and backup) are being updated - going offline during a send/receive, auto-poll, indexing - index (message store and database) corruption The purpose of Recovered is to alert the user and attempt to save any data (external to the WLM database on the user's hard drive) not properly indexed allowing review and in some case recovery. The 'Recovered' subfolders in Storage Folders are usually labelled with dates and information on the original or intended location. The subfolders under 'Storage Folders/Recovered Folders' with recovered items can be deleted. Those items are not included in a WLM compact process (default is every 100 openings). -- ...winston msft mvp consumer apps |
