Please forgive me, but you are the first Brit whose name I saw
since deciding to ask this question.

This concerns highway/street lane markings in the UK. I
sometimes see photo of a lane marking in the UK that is a zigzag
line ( __/\/\/\/\/\___). What does that lane marking mean?
