Default Failed Windows updates

I have noticed in several occasions in the historical folder that some
window updates failed.

Then they come back in the list of proposed updates again.
And this process renews itself.
Question How do we stop this ?

I need help.

I download the updates individually, from the Microsoft web
page. Just about every time an update fails, for some reason
installing it separately will work.

When that won't work, is if some previous update has managed
to "block" any new installation attempts at all. As long as
some of the Windows Updates installation attempts are working,
WU probably isn't blocked.

*******

If WU is blocked, seek the procedure that resets WU, cleans
out the SoftwareDistribution folder and so on. There's no guarantee
this solves all problems, but it's a start.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...ate-reset.html

You can examine those .bat files with notepad, and decide
which part(s) of rhe scripts you want to use. For example,
this might be enough for an average WU problem. This cleans
out two directories of state information, while the associated
services are stopped.

net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
net stop appidsvc
net stop cryptsvc
rmdir %windir%\softwaredistribution /s /q
Del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat"
cd /d %windir%\system32
Ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
net start cryptsvc
net start appidsvc
net start bits
net start wuauserv
bitsadmin.exe /reset /allusers

Verify the variables exist before running that. You
can run these in a Command Prompt. The above script
would likely benefit from a "Run As Administrator"
Command Prompt window, that's if you're launching
it from Command Prompt or something. Whereas these
will run without elevation.

echo %windir%
echo %systemroot%
echo "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%

Microsoft had the right idea on their latest OS,
when it comes to the App Store. They provide a
program called WSReset.exe for resetting the state
of the App Store interface. Too bad they didn't make
a similar thing for Windows Update, so scripts
like the sevenforum ones are not needed.

*******

If you look in Control Panels, there is probably
a Troubleshooter control panel, and with
Windows Update as an item in there.

Steps:

1) Open Control Panels.
2) Click "Troubleshooting" to launch it.
3) Now, go to the upper right hand corner and enter
the word "update".
4) The search should return a single item within the
resulting window, which is the "Window Update"
troubleshooter. The "Advanced" button offers to
elevate the tool so it can run as Administrator.

If I cannot install an update individually by itself, I mark it hidden.
In Windows Update, right-click and select Hide. That stops further
attempts to install it.
