Network Issues, MyComputer = "Server Execution Failed" ?
Bit ol' oak tree went down just over the hill, took out the power and (I
am assuming) Verizon's FIOS. Switched over to backup gennies. Network problems. Plugged a PC directly into Verizon's FIOS box, still could not get out to IpChicken.com - hence the assumption that FIOS got hosed too. All well and good.... But the local network was hosed too - for awhile..... finally came back after turning various devices on/off multiple times. But here's where I got lost: while the local network was down, double clicking MyComputer caused Windows to throw "Server Execution Failed". Same thing when clicking shortcuts to local drives. Ditto even when trying to open Control Panel. But once the LAN came back, no problem. It's as if some network connection were critical-path to Windows' being able to open local drives/files. Does this make sense? If so, is there something I can do to remove that dependency? -- Pete Cresswell |
