Default When did Flash get bloated and can I go back.

I have an old laptop that has been sitting on my work bench for years,
connected to a TV (S-video) I have always used it to stream HBO go and
other TV. The last time I turned it on, I got the nag screen to update
Flash. After the update, streams slowed way down, to the point of
being unusable. I assume this has to be a flash thing. It must have
gotten bigger or something. I have another machine that did the same
thing.

It's likely that your browser will not allow Flash to run unless
it's the latest version.

I loaded 10.2 and Firefox was OL with it but I am still getting jumpy
playback with a 1.7gz P4 and a gig and a quarter of ram.
The sys requirements a quite a it less than that according to Adobe.
