Drives not showing up and some other issues
Win XP is still on my computer.
I dual boot. But, Slacko is my main O.S. I have problems with my external drives not being recognized by Linux Puppy. Win XP is showing F: drive, but there is no F: drive. I would like to determine if Windows XP is the issue. I use Macrium Reflect. Any ideas to narrow down the problem ?? Thanks, Andy |

I've found that Puppy has better hardware recognition and "just works with no tears" better than most any mainstream distro. MacPup 5.29 is my favorite. Click the icon and mount any external drives thru the GUI. Win XP is showing F: drive, but there is no F: drive. Are you sure? I have a TV card that shows up as a data drive and a CDROM. Some USB thumb drives have two partitions. One has the utilities that came with the thumb drive and another that you use as storage. Depending on your setup, the drives may or may not have drive letters or may be hidden if they do. Depending on how you installed puppy, that may have created a drive letter that windows can see. Disk management in administrative tools should show you what's what from the windows point of view. I would like to determine if Windows XP is the issue. I use Macrium Reflect.
