Do I need a male to male DVI cable or male to female cable to connect a monitor to a desktop ?
Thanks, Andy You may be able to outrun a cop car, but not the Motorola radio. :-)

What's important is what type of connector is on your video card. If they are not a match there are adapters available. JT --

Some may supply one video cable per video port it uses. All devices are females. That is a computer will have a Female receptacle and all monitors will have a Female receptacle. Thus all video cables will be Male to Male. That is all standard VGA, DVI, HDMI and Display Port cables will will have a Male Plug on both ends. NOTE: Some older VGA monitors may have had a built-in VGA cable that had a male plug.
