Can I remove the security crap from gmail?
Can I remove the security crap from gmail?
I use Thunderbird version 2.0.0.24 as a pop email for gmail. I have used this for years without problem. Lately I keep getting a message that reads: "Thunderbird can't connect securely to pop.gmail.com because the site uses a security protocol which isn't enabled.". This is most annoying. I dont want any security to be used, and want to disable it. I have nothing to hide, all I do is email a few friends about the weather, auto repair and stuff that would bore anyone else. Is there a way to disable the security? DO NOT tell me to upgrade Thunderbird. I have no need for more features (mostly bloat), and I run this same installation under both XP and Win98se. (I dont think Win98 allows for a newer version). Thanks |

You need to enable the "allow less secure apps" feature. This article on how to do that is fairly accurate: http://email.about.com/od/gmailtips/...entication.htm |
