Gmail account since 2012.

TBird cannot get in today.
I did not change anything.
All I have done recently is to use the account to log into Google CRAP!

Now Wants verification.
wants a phone number = @$$#013$ NO WAY !

I relented and used the different working GMAIL Account option.

GMail sent a verification number to this other account.

I entered it in where it asks and GMail says.

Cannot verify.

BIG F-ING TURDS!

If something trips Gmail's security for your account, the Tb agent can't
get in because you need to satisfy such as a captcha at gmail's webmail
login.

That is NOT the same process as a lost password, which requires that
gmail send you a pass to a secondary system such as a mobile text or a
different email account.

The 'lost' password is also triggered when you are trying to use the
wrong user/pass combination.

There is NO capcha choice!

It wants a phone number to text to or another email address to send a
code to.
The code did not work!

They are not getting my phone number!

When we signed up for GMAIL there was NO requirement for a phone or
anything else!

Now these @$$#013 twits want more personal info so they can SPAM us!

Class action suit please!

You don't have to give a phone number. Gmail wants a cellno because it
thinks everyone has one and because it likes that mechanism of texting
best.

Many people refuse to give a cell or phone no and choose an alternate
email instead.

Sometimes in these problems a password doesn't work because 'something'
is wrong with the username, so the user/pass doesn't work and the
account holder thinks it is because of the pass when it is actually the
username misspelled or capped or whatever.
