I see that I have successfully disables some addons that snuck in with
some application installations.

You are not making your self well understood. What is an "addon"? An
"addon" to what? What is the name of this mysterious "addon"?

I'm guessing you're talking about installing some software package that
you found on the Internet, and that it carried and installed some other
software that you didn't want. But you have to be specific if you want
good answers.

You can often find a instruction on how to uninstall a PUP (Potentially
Unwanted Program) just by googling its name.

I'm guessing that the subject line gives some hint ... (-:
[]
(I. e. I think he means addons for IE8.)

Oops, didn't catch that!

He still needs to be more specific.

How do I delete IE8 addons that are disabled so they do not even show up
in the manage add-ons area in IE8 ?
e.g. Google or Google Toolbar Helper

I find no mention of anything called "Google Toolbar Helper".

Here are instructions for removing "Google Toolbar:":

Here are instruction for removing something called "Internet Helper
Toolbar":

Please be more precise and detailed. Exact names are important.

Yikes !
I gave you the exact verbiage shown in the IE8 Add-On section.

Thanks for your help.

There seems to be no general way to remove these add-ons.

Google tool bar is a program.
Delete via Control Panel / Programs like any other program.
