Default Need POS laster/led printer recommendatios

Hi All,

I have a customer with five stores that use laser/led
black and white printer to print 8-1/2 x 11" receipts.
They are always breaking. So they are looking for
replacements.

They are currently using Okidata B4600's. Problem: they
have to turn the fuser on all the time (no sleep) so that
they do not have to wait for the unit to heat up when a
customers wants their receipt. This eventually degrades
the roller under the fuser unit, making it very sticky.
Paper then sticks to the roller and we have jam city.
And we are talking "bodacious" jams too. Pulling the paper
out will break the multiple spring mechanism at the back of
the fuser unit.

My own personal B4250 (older brother of the B4600 and virtually
identical) does not do this, but my fuser has to heat up
every time.

Before the Okidata's, they used the cheapest Brother laser
print from the office store. They only lasted under a year.
Usually the electronics would go out -- usb stopped working
etc..

It needs to be compact as their is not much physical space.
They need a high duty cycle and fast first page printing.
And they are somewhat (only a tiny bit) abusive of their
equipment. Plus they use refuse to use anything but
the cheapest paper.

The high reliability hits I see on google and for printers
that are physically about twice to three times too high
to fit in their space.

They are willing to pay for a quality printer (now).
Any suggestions?

Brother DCP-7040 here takes about 7 seconds to warm when printing after
being on standby for a while (haven't tested how long). Then about 1
second to start printing within a minute or two of the last print job.

Cool. Do you know of one that is a printer only?

Your customers should know that they are dealing with a rogue trader who
is defrauding them left, right, and central. They should then have an
option to execute you.

This thread says the fuser isn't the same design it used to be.

https://superuser.com/questions/1294...no-warmup-time

The roller is hollow, so the thermal mass is reduced, and
the heat is "focused" on the active area during roller rotation.

By not using a dumb heating solution, the printer heats
up faster.

The fastest fusing solution is a Xenon flash lamp, but the
machine it's housed in draws 5.5KW and only some sort
of volume $$$ printing solution would use it.

The superuser thread says the hollow toner roller has
been around for at least ten years, and is not a new thing.

*******

Brother seems to be fixated on the 7 second heatup time.

https://www.brother-usa.com/products...specifications

This HP washtub heats up in 5.4 seconds.

https://www8.hp.com/emea_middle_east...976#!tab=specs

This HP compact one heats up in 6.4 seconds.

https://www8.hp.com/emea_middle_east...598#!tab=specs

Compact samsung 8.5 seconds.

https://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/s...952#!tab=specs

Samsung washtub 6.5 seconds.

https://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/s...035#!tab=specs

(Samsung was bought out by HP, which is why the printer URLs are
on the HP site.)

It doesn't look like anyone wants to provide
Xenon flash tube performance levels in a
compact printer.
