Can't make keyboard layout stick
T my laptop I bought an Logitech K400+ wireless external keyboard with
non-US character layout to make it easier for me to write in a certain foreign language that uses a bunch of accented letters. Without this external keyboard I have to use the laptop keyboard with the US International mapping for that foreign language. Having bought the Logitech K400+ keyboard I just needed to add a new mapping to fit the QWERTZ keyboard's keys and everything works great. I can go back to the laptop's own QWERTY keyboard and use the US International mapping or to the Logitech QWERTZ foreign mapping with just a flip of a keyboard option on the task bar. There is only one problem with it: that option flag does not stick to the foreign language setting I set it to and tends to reset itself to the US-International option. Is there a way to make that setting stick to the value I set it to till I change it again? And I mean even across reboots because I want to be able to use the external keyboard even when starting Windows 10 and enter the user name and password. |

Keyboard layout can be changed permanently by changing the system's language. For example, I have UK and US English on my system and I can interchange the keyboard layout (if I need to!!!) by changing the language to US or vice versa. !00% of the time I use UK English but other option is there if needed. I used to find the keyboard layout changing at random times until I disabled the hot keys for switching keyboard layouts. 1. Go to "Start Settings Time & language Language". 2. Scroll down and click on "Choose an input method to always use as default" 3. Click "Input language hot keys" 4. Select the tab "Advanced Key Settings" 5. Disable every one of the hot keys you see on that panel. -- Kind regards Ralph |

That,s what I use now but I thought that option would also be gone after all the hot key are disabled. As it turns out though, I did not need to disable them to get the desired effect. Just making the foreign language the default did it. So thanks Ralph! |

Thanks for the tip, but I just don't write here that often that would make it worthwhile. Besides, from a recent update, my filters don't seem to work anymore. |
